Digital Patriots Awards Dinner

The Consumer Electronics Association celebrates advances in consumer technology and honors those who have opened the door for the innovations that have redefined our business and personal lives at the annual Digital Patriot Awards dinner at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC.

The 2011 honorees included Senator Tom A. Coburn, M.D. (R-Okla.) and Representative Anna G. Eshoo (D-Calif.), who won awards for their support of the electronics industry. Also honored was Dr. Robert E. Kahn, president and CEO of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives and one of the creators of the Internet. CEA President Gary Shapiro used his keynote speech to point out how technology helped the Arab Spring. By using tools like social networking, "citizens have brought down tyrants."
